5k: Due Diligence: 1969 Lincoln Continental Hardtop
The 4th generation Lincoln Continental (1961-1969) is a big classic Elwood Engel design that exudes cool, but isn’t out of the reach of the average Joe. The suicide door sedan version is iconic and expensive, but you can pickup a 2-door hardtop version in great shape for cheap. Find this 1969 Lincoln Continental Hardtop here on craigslist, or here on eBay
offered for $5,000 in Belchertown, MA. Tip from Jim H.
This is normally when we would go into details about the car, the condition of the paint — yaddy yah –– instead, lets look at the seller. A quick google of the cell phone brings up a linkedin profile of a man named Christopher G (redacted for his privacy, but you should do the same sleuthing for any potential car you might buy) who seems to be a bit of a car guy.
This seller is no lightweight, he looks like he must be in his 50s and
probably originally from the Amherst area. Amherst/Hadley/Belchertown are so close together I think of all of
them as Amherst — anyway, his current experience has him listed as the president of a classic car finding service but cooler is the project for a high end Classic and Exotic Auto facility for storage and
lounge.

The Continental, especially the coupes, has a special place in my heart. I'm working as hard as I can to save up for my first project and it has to be one of these. I'm terrified at what the parts bills will look like, but every time I see one, and the price they usually go for, it reinforces this deep seated need.
Where's my Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes 8-track? This is a beautiful slab and looks to be a smoking deal.
Best color I have ever seen dress one…nice.
Obligatory Commander Cody video
I'd really love to have one of these. Bench seats are seriously awesome.
On the incredibly realistic and not staged at all Discovery Channel hit Fast N' Loud, a recent episode featured a garage find '66 Continental coupe in the same dark green. They hardly touched it and it was terribly dusty but I could see the beauty in the design. I can't say I'd ever paid attention to this particular generation but I am now a fan.
"Incredibly realistic and not staged at all " LOL CFlo= winner, comment of the week

Jimmy,
Good catch, I'll update the original post.

Looks like a super deal, and even more so on a per-pound basis.
Is that a three-corpse trunk, or four?
Oh, I'm sorry, GOLF BAGS.
A test for your 2 post lift.
That Lincoln 460 produces so much torque at low revs it should be codenamed "Chuck Norris."
It doesn't propel the car forward. It spins the earth backwards.
That's a winner!
Throw some torq thrusts on it and it could be Steve Mcqueen's Vegas show car.
