The 3rd generation Ford Galaxie was a full-sized sedan introduced in
1965 with mostly new styling. It was visually unique with the cool stacked
headlights that were cascaded down to smaller Fords, but the Galaxie sold
well until the next facelift.  Today, a used running/driving Galaxie is a great way drive a vintage classic without being foolish with your 401k.  Find this 1967 Ford Galaxie here on eBay currently bidding for $4,100 with 2 days to go, located in Anderson, SC.

This Galaxie was available in several different trim levels, but they all got a new three-link rear end to replace the leaf springs of the previous generation.  This improved the ride and handling (leaf springs locate the rear end and do weird stuff when you have lateral loads involved) and was also used on the NASCAR version — remember this was back when stock car racing used actual stock cars as a starting point.

Under the hood is a 390 cubic inch (6.4 liter) V8 from the Ford FE series V8 family that was rated at 265 horsepower when equipped with a 2-bbl carburetor and 320 horsepower with the 4bbl.
