5k: 4WD Big Block: 1964 Dodge Town Panel Truck
It is the day after Christmas, so you are going to need a big car to haul your newly acquired loot home and to haul your old junk to the Goodwill. You could find any number of domestic pickup trucks, but what if you need to stop for a coffee on the way — someone might steal your new-in-box Chuck Norris Total Gym. What you need is a panel truck…specifically this 1964 Dodge Town Panel Truck offered here on craigslist for $5,900 in Paso Robles, CA.
The Dodge Town Panel was the panel truck version of the Dodge Town Wagon, which was as close as you could get to a large SUV in the 1950s/60s. This Town Panel has been given the heart & soul of the larger and more Power Wagon which was a four wheel drive light truck produced by Dodge starting just after World War II and continuing through 1980.
The seller states that the drivetrain comes from a W200 Power Wagon, but also claims that the engine is a 1971 400 cubic inch V8 mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox with Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles.
If you are going to live in a van down by the river, this is much better choice than the infamous free candy van.
