5-Speeds Face-Off: 2009 Volkswagen Golf or 1994 Mercury Tracer
These next two cars make for an interesting comparison because they are both front-wheel-drive and equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but the similarities end there. In fact, the thing that makes these car even remotely interesting to compare is that they are sold by the same seller in one craigslist advert. Would you prefer this 2009 Volkswagen Golf offered for $4000 or 1994 Mercury Tracer offered for $1200 in Hartford, CT via craigslist. Tip from ME.

The tracer would be perfect for any situation where a completely anonymous vehicle is desired.
NYC parking tickets for example- reminds me of a friend who had a Ford pickup with a Chevy bed. It said Chevrolet in foot high letters on the back. He’d take a handful of parking tickets to the parking tickets judge who would make a remark about cops and high school diplomas, mark them as defective and send him on his way.

If this were a daily, I’d go for the Rabbit. I’m driving a Passat that is only 4 years newer, so this is only taking on incrementally more lunacy.
But if I were building a track weapon, I’d take the Tracer. I know, that sounds a bit absurd – but several of my co-workers have been tracking BG chassis Mazdas under the Hong Norrth Racing banner, and there’s a good chance I could benefit from their development work. Plus, I’d have more left over for entry fees.
I was all up on the Rabbit till I saw the Puerto Rican flag. And maybe the Trayca make you a Playa…………with the baby mommas.
