38k Mile Cabernet: 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon

In 1991 Buick revived the Roadmaster name for one last hurrah before putting it to bed for good at the end of 1996.  It was the last of the body-on-frame full sized family wagons, where kids got to look out the back and fuel tanks drained faster than savings accounts when kids hit college age. Find this 1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon here on eBay bidding for $9,400 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go, located in Sarasota, FL.

This big Cabernet colored beauty comes from the last year of Roadmaster production and has only 38k miles on the odometer.  It’s a far cry from the average Roadmaster and its carpets appear to be free from Cheerios crumbs and the wear/tear of hauling around 8 people on a daily basis.

Under the hood is a 5.7 liter iron block/iron heads LT1 V8 that was rated at 260 horsepower and 330 ft-lbs of torque when new.  This car does not have the towing package that would have added a mechanical cooling fan (to replace one of the two electric fans), a shorter rear end ratio with limited slip diff,  heavy duty cooling system, and a self level rear air suspension — but you wouldn’t want the complex self leveling stuff anyway.

I have to assume the reason the bids have gotten so high for this car (and they are high) is due to the low miles, because the car does have some flaws, including tree-sap stained paint on the hood, various nicks/scratches, and light surface rust on the undercarriage.
