32 of 50: Kate: 1972 DeTomaso Pantera

The DeTomaso Pantera is famous for two things.  First: for being a wickedly fast Ford powered Italian supercar and second: for being so unreliable that Elvis Presley once reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot it for not starting.  We’ve come to the point of physical violence with inanimate objects in the past, and can only forgive the King for shooting at a Pantera because, well he was the King and made gold sequined capes cool for everyone.  Find this 1972 DeTomaso Pantera for sale in Columbus, OH currently bidding on ebay for only $21,800 with a few hours to go.

This Pantera is an estate sale and will need some reconditioning before driving it around. A nice feature is that engine parts are common Ford junk that can be picked up at your local AutoKrag’reillyBoys but the interior parts will need to be hand fabricated by old dudes who don’t work for minimum wage.  But with nice examples selling for almost $50k, you’ve got some room to restore this one, driving it around and maybe make a few bucks when you sell it.

This feature is part of Daily
Turismo’s birthday celebration
of 50 cars in 24 hours.
