$3,141.59: π-day: 2001 Lexus LS430
Happy Pi Day to all math nerds out on the web. Today is a unique Pi Day — 3.14.16 — a nicely rounded version of the irrational number that was closely approximated with polygons by the Greek mathematician Archimedes around 250 BC. Around here we celebrate Pi Day by finding a car priced as close to $3,141.59 as we can get, like this 2001 Lexus LS430 bidding here on eBay for $3,150 with 2 days to go, located in Addison, TX.
The third generation Lexus LS (XF30) was introduced in 2001 with only a
4.3 liter V8 powering the rear wheels. The LS430 achieved remarkable
scores in quality/reliability surveys and are known to last for hundreds
of thousands of miles with basic maintenance, very out of the norm when
compared to the 2000 era sedan offerings from BMW, MBZ, and Audi.
The LS is powered by a 4.3 liter Toyota V8 that puts out 290 horsepower and 320 ft-lbs of torque with minimal noise, fuss, or driver involvement. The interior isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t look bad at all for the current Pi-thousand asking price.

This is my go-to recommendation for someone looking for basic transportation that is probably too old for a corolla. They have aged well. Sure, they aren't any fun, but neither is sitting in traffic.
True. With gas this cheap, you might as well pick one of these up if you spend a lot of time in a car. Your commute will be much more tolerable.
Just a few blocks away. Technically I'm looking for something as a new daily. But had my eye on something else instead. So tempting.
