1948 Indian Papoose
I say the word Indian in the motorcycle context and you probably think of a Harley-like bike with fairings and fenders. You’d also think American when mentioning Indian, but this little thing was actually a British built Corgi Mark-I built by Brockhouse in Blighty.
The Papoose/Mark-I took its inspiration from “Wellbike” motorcycles that were designed to be dropped from a plane with a paratrooper. You would think that after having lived through the war years, buyers would want to avoid things that reminded them of Operation Market Garden.
