16Valve Sleeper: 1975 Volkswagen Scirocco

The first generation Volkswagen Scirocco was released in 1974 on a chassis that was shared with the Golf…but it had sleek sheet metal that was penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro and a name that was practically impossible to spell. Today’s Scirocco has an upgraded motor with headers, weber carbs and looks pretty good for its age, but is the price too high? Find this 1975 Volkswagen Scirocco offered for $15,000 in West Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.

1975 MK1 Volkswagen Scirocco 3rd owner very well maintained. 16v 5 Speed, 45 dual Webers with all the bells and whistles. Original paint, runs and drives great. Showing 41000 miles on broken odometer. Someone tried to steal the car and nuked the motor. The insurance salvaged the title because of that. It did not salvage because of an accident.

This Scirocco runs great. We bought it during the pandemic to have a project to keep busy. During this time we fixed every issue. Since this Scirocco is a 1975 it is smog exempt in California. This means that when you register it there is no smog certificate :).
