15k: Half Way Rod: 1959 Chevrolet El Camino
The Chevrolet El Camino was introduced in 1959 as a world changing two-door car/pickup, although it was 2 years later to production than the Ford Ranchero. The El Camino was based on the full sized Chevy platform, specifically the Brookwood 2-door station wagon and offered a combination of car handling and truck hauling. Find this 1959 Chevrolet El Camino for sale in Euclid, OH currently bidding on ebay for $14,350 with 2 days to go.
The 1959 El Camino was unique in its styling and the 1960 refresh lost the wicked rear cat’s eye tail lights and big horizontal fin. A well preserved 1959 is probably one of the most collectible of Caminos, but this example shows up halfway between a hot rod and a rat rod. The burned-through paint looks less like an accident and more like a purposeful attempt at adding patina. The red undertones showing up through the paint does add a bit of character, and it does look purposeful.
This El Camino is powered by a Chevy 350 (5.7 liter) V8 putting out an undisclosed amount of horsepower (300 hp?) and mated to a 700R4 automatic trans.

Why did they try to pass that off as natural patina?? Maybe it was done by a previous owner but certanly not by age, but by a sander of some sort.
