10k: Low Miles: 1993 Toyota MR2

The Toyota MR2 was about as close as you could get to a Japanese super car before the launch of Honda’s NSX, particularly in its Ferrari look-alike second generation.  Even in non-turbo form it its well composed and balanced mid-engine setup allows for fantastic at the limit handling.  Find this 1993 Toyota MR2 non-turbo offered for $8,500 in Horsham, PA via craigslist.  Tip from David.

The second generation MR2 was sold in the USA from 1991 through 1995 with two choices of inline-4 cylinder engines.  The hot one to get was the turbocharged 2.0L 3S-GTE, but today’s low mile example is powered by the non-turbo 2.2L 5S-FE.  The 5S-FE puts out 135 horsepower into a 5-speed manual gearbox and will push the 2590 lb 2-seater around with decent gusto.

Wow, it is snowing in Pennsylvania in August?  tips@dailyturismo.com
