10k Flash: 1987 Ford Mustang 5.0

The 3rd generation Ford Mustang was built on the legendary Fox platform and featured the equally legendary Ford 5.0 V8 from 1979-1993.  A stock Fox body Mustang isn’t a particularly fast car, slower in fact than similar-era 4 cylinder front wheel drive cars from Honda, for instance, but in mint condition they can be fun to drive and are starting to get old/retro enough to be ‘cool’.  This 1987 Ford Mustang 5.0 is offered in Apache Junction, AZ via ebay, currently bidding for $10,500 with less than 1 day to go.

This car is being offered as a low mile (34k on the odo) ‘survivor’ car – it has original paint, original spark plug wires, original exhaust and zero resprays or door dings.  It is 100% stock and looks like it just came off the showroom floor in 1987.

This Mustang is powered by the 5.0 HO V8 – making 225 horsepower and 300 ft-lbs of torque – mated to a Borg-Warner T-5 manual transmission it should make for a decent amount of fun.

This Mustang is equipped with a set of cloth seats and interior in a sand/beige color which today looks quite dated, but would be cool as long as it doesn’t get too dirty.

Bottom line: This Mustang looks to be about the perfect Fox Mustang, has low miles, clean inside and out – but is the price getting into high for a 5.0, any 5.0?
