10k: Ain’t No Lemon: 1969 Pontiac LeMans

The holy grail of classic car finds isn’t the mud-covered Shelby in the garage or the mint condition low mile E-type that will live inside a living room with the owner contemplating pulling a Ferris Bueller after driving to the local mini-mart.  The true great finds are classic iron, in good condition, with decent paint, good original or lightly modified engines, seat belts and functioning AC found for less than the price of a 3 year old used Kia.  Find this 1969 Pontiac LeMans for sale in Platte City, MO currently bidding for $7,600 with a few hours to go.

The seller looks to be a professional ebay seller based on the quality of his photos, the composition of his ad and a general sense that this guy knows what he is doing.  The “no reserve,” “no BS” auction isn’t as clean as you might think because of the possibility of shill bidders and ebay’s non-binding bid policy on auto auctions (that is correct, ebay auto auctions aren’t binding according to ebay’s official policy, but that doesn’t exclude it from being a binding agreement as seen in a court of law, like a Mis-ore-ah small claims court…maybe a lawyer can clear this one up for us).

The detailed engine bay could be the work of an obsessive compulsive, but is probably another dead giveaway for a seller who knows his business.  Either way, we do like a good clean 350 cubic inch (5.7 liter) V8 good for 325 SAE gross horsepower.

What more can you ask for in a big American classic muscle coupe – 2 doors, slushbox auto transmission, tilt column steering, factory AC, modern stereo with vintage-look and bucket seats in the front.  This thing is setup for the daily drive.
