    Had a 2001 I bought off-lease in 2003. It was a magnificent POS. The 4.6 is a good engine until the cylinders liners slip out, and it's not a matter of if they slip out, its when.

    I don't know that $3500/year is a lot to keep a 20 year old vehicle on the road, at least until you sort through the major stuff. Is it?

      It’s about an order of magnitude more than I would spend but I like doing my own work. The flossiness of these make them the definition of “deferred maintenance” in my experience.
