    But what the heck is that gov't incentive to scrap a vehicle for $6K? I wonder if that is specifically towards the purchase of an electric replacement. In either case, totally counter productive. A vehicle's largest carbon footprint is due to manufacturing. If you want to do the planet a favour, keep and older vehicle on the road longer. Your net footprint will be smaller.
