I feel the need to make amends for the sunset orange 99EMS with a $15k asking price that we featured yesterday — not because it wasn’t a nice car, but because YIKES that was a big ask for a ’74 Saab (or any Saab for that matter) and this isn’t one of those sites where we try and find the most expensive version of some furrin car and then sell you on the price. This is a site where we dig through pile of tips and look for the ones where it makes more sense to be the buyer than the seller. Like this 1974 Saab Sonett III offered for $850 in Camarillo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Sean.
This Sonett has a few things going for it — soccerball alloys, lime green paint, and a three digit asking price. The seller admits the car needs a total restoration, but indicates that the car is all-there and comes with some extra parts. Missing parts takes your restoration project from a few weekends in the garage to a few months in Saab graveyards — trust me, you want the car with extra parts.
No word on if the Ford Taunus borrowed V4 mated to the front wheels is in functioning condition, but from the looks of it you will need to budget for a total fuel system overhaul at minimum to a complete engine/trans rebuild, tops.
