I'm certain that one day, not too far in the future some auto enthusiasts will look back on today's low BMW 8xx prices with astonishment in the same way that this classified ad for a Gullwing Mercedes resonates with us today.

It seems like there is a business opportunity developing a modern replacement for all the computers in 1990s cars. A generic box with a CAN Bus module on an Arduino or Raspberry Pi should have way more computing power than whatever was top of the line then. I believe that this car was the first to implement the CAN bus.

Is anyone doing LS swaps in these? I wonder how the BMW brains would interact with a Chevy powertrain?

This is a roll of dice that are big enough to crush your savings account if they come up snake eyes. I have always loved the style of these big coupes though. An LS/trans swap would be a big project, but would give this car some decent longevity.
